New daily COVID-19 cases registered in the 15-thousands on Tuesday.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said on Tuesday that 15-thousand-741 infections were reported throughout Monday, including 27 from overseas, bringing the total caseload to over 31 million-192-thousand.

The figure rose by nearly ten-thousand from a day ago due to increased testing after the weekend. It also rose by 930 from a week ago and by 578 from two weeks ago.

The daily average for the past week was tallied at 13-thousand-484.

The number of hospitalized patients for intensive care increased by two from a day ago to 137.

The death toll climbed by ten to stand at 34-thousand-497, with the overall fatality rate remaining at zero-point-11 percent.
