New COVID-19 Cases Rise above 20,000

New daily COVID-19 cases rose above 20-thousand on Wednesday.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency said on Wednesday that 20-thousand-197 infections were reported throughout Tuesday, including 26 from overseas, bringing the total caseload to over 31 million-212-thousand.

The figure rose by some 38-hundred from a week ago and by 37-hundred from two weeks ago. The daily tally surpassed 20-thousand for the first time in about three months since hitting 20-thousand-412 on February 1.

The daily average for the past week was tallied at 14-thousand-30.

The number of hospitalized patients for intensive care increased by five from a day ago to 142.

The death toll climbed by eight to stand at 34-thousand-505, with the overall fatality rate remaining at zero-point-11 percent.
