Discover Korea Special Part 2
《 Jeonju 》

When traveling in new and strange lands we often experience happiness through the strangers that we meet and things that we see. Through KBS World Radio’s Korea Travel Essay Contest “Discover Korea”, 20-year-old Indonesian, Afrizal Kurniawan, was able to experience the many faces of Korea through his two night three day stay this September.

In Part two of the special broadcast on the “Discover Korea Essay Contest”, Afrizal discovers the historical roots of Korea through his adventures in Jeonju. Jeonju, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is also the birthplace of the Chosun Dynasty and home to Pansori and Korea’s representative foods.

Afrizal learned about Korea’s unique traditional culture and history through his stay in a traditional Korean home at Jeonju’s Hanok Village, visiting various historical sites, and learning about Korea’s traditional musical instruments and even making Hanji, or traditional paper himself.
