Choo Formally Introduced as Texas Ranger in Ceremony Friday

South Korean outfielder Choo Shin-soo has officially joined the Texas Rangers.

Choo was formally introduced on Friday during a ceremony with his family, agent and Texas Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels.

Choo was presented with jersey number 17, a number he has worn since his high school days. He said he has made his dream come true since he first started playing ball 18 years ago. But he said his next dream is to win the World Series.

Choo will return to South Korea on Monday for physical training and join the Rangers at their spring training camp in mid-February.

Earlier this week, MLB-dot-com said Choo agreed to a 130 million dollar, seven-year contract with the Texas Rangers. It is the largest contract ever for an Asian player in Major League Baseball.

Friday's ceremony was aired live on MLB's Web site.
