Choo Says Return Home More Meaningful This Year

South Korean outfielder Choo Shin-soo has returned to Korea for a visit as the newest member of the Texas Rangers and the highest paid Asian player in Major League Baseball.

Choo held a news conference at Incheon International Airport shortly after his arrival early Monday. Just last Monday, he signed a 130 million dollar, seven-year contract with the Rangers.

He said he's happier about his performance this season than the deal with the Rangers which makes his return home more meaningful than any other year.

He said he chose Texas because he was looking for a place with a sizable Korean community in consideration of his family.

Choo will return to the U.S. on January 12th and join the Rangers at their spring training camp in mid-February.
