South Korean bobsledders boosted their international profile on Wednesday with first and second place finishes at a competition in Lake Placid, New York.
The two-man team of Won Yun-jong and Seo Young-woo took gold at the seventh event of the North America’s Cup with a time of one minute 51-point-41 seconds.
Compatriot bobsledders Kim Dong-hyun and Jun Jung-lin finished second with a time of one minute 51-point-87 seconds.
This is the first time South Korea has taken first and second on the podium at an international bobsled completion.
Meanwhile, the Korea Luge Federation said the International Luge Federation (FIL) informed South Korea its athletes have qualified for the men's singles and doubles, women’s singles and team relay events.
South Korea has sent athletes in the men's singles event in each of the past four Winter Games, starting with Nagano in 1998, but this is the first time the country has secured Olympic spots in all four events.
