Pope Francis Prays for Gift of Reconciliation on Korean Peninsula

Pope Francis has stressed the need for reconciliation on the Korean Peninsula during his New Year's address to ambassadors to the Vatican.
 
The pontiff made the call on Monday as South Korea and the Vatican celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties this year.
 
The pope said he wishes to implore from God the gift of reconciliation on the peninsula, adding he trusts the interested parties will tirelessly seek points of agreement and possible solutions for the good of all Koreans.
 
The pope stressed the need for peace as he took note of conflicts taking place across the globe.
 
Representatives from some 180 countries were present at Monday’s address.
