Seoul City to Designate Centuries-old Gingko Trees as Cultural Monument

The Seoul city government says it will most likely designate old ginkgo trees at Sungkyunkwan University’s Seoul campus as a cultural monument.

The gingko trees are believed to be 400 or 500 years old. Historical records suggest they were planted during the era of King Jungjong of the Joseon Dynasty.

The city government will make a final decision by the end of March after collecting public opinions until February 17th.
