New textbooks for North Korean defectors will be distributed to schools for the first time ever this March to begin the first semester.
 
The Education Ministry says it will distribute eight types of textbooks to elementary and middle schools including alternative schools to better help North Korean defectors adapt to school life in South Korea.
 
The books include Korean language, social studies, mathematics and science for first to second grade elementary school and first year middle school students.
 
The textbooks specially deal with the different pronunciation of Korean words and compare the governments, economies and constitutions of South and North Korea.
 
The ministry plans to expand the textbooks to cover all grades.
