Death toll might reach over 120 in Daegu subway tragedy

Police said that the death toll from the deadly attack on the Daegu subway station would reach over 120 as of Wednesday afternoon. According to the initial investigation by the National Institute of Science and Investigation and the forensic team from Kyungbook National University, they presumed that there would be more than 70 corpses burned to death in the six subway carriages. Police added that the death toll would rise to many as 120 with bodies lying in the morgues of 20 different hospitals in Daegu City. The Daegu City Authorities have begun trying to identify the bodies found in the subway compartments early Wednesday morning but most of them were found to have been burned beyond recognition. They said they should rely on DNA testing to find out the identity of the bodies.
