Domestic String Quartet Wins Int’l Mozart Competition

A South Korean string quartet has won the first prize at this year’s International Mozart Competition held in Salzburg, Austria.

The Novus Quartet took the honor by playing Franz Schubert’s Quartet Movement in C minor, Alban Berg's Lyric Suite and Wolfgang Mozart’s String Quartet No. 16.

Novus is the first South Korean string quartet to win an international competition.

It came in second at Germany’s ARD International Music Competition in 2012.
