South Korea has failed to win any medals so far at the Sochi Winter Olympics.
Speed skater, Mo Tae-bum, failed to grab a medal in the men’s 500-meter event where the defending champion was initially expected to win a gold medal.
Mo came in fourth at the event held in Adler Arena at a total time of 69-point-69 seconds.
Michel Mulder of the Netherlands won the 500-meters speed skating title with a total score of 69-point-31 seconds. Fellow Dutch athletes also grabbed the silver and bronze medals in the event.
Choi Jae-woo became the first South Korean to advance into the first round of the men’s moguls final. However, he failed to make it to the second final round after he strayed off course.
In women’s single luge runs, Sung Eun-ryung ranked 30th out of 31 athletes after clocking a total time of one minute and 44-point-133 seconds.
On Tuesday, speed skater Lee Sang-hwa will aim for the gold medal in the women’s 500-meter event for the second time in a row.
