Short Track Skater Park Wins Bronze in Sochi

South Korean short track speed skater Park Seung-hi has won bronze at the Sochi Winter Olympics in the women's 500 meters.

The 21-year old Park finished with a time of 54-point-207 on Thursday at Iceberg Skating Palace in Sochi.

Park led for half of the first lap before Britain's Elise Christie took out Italy's Arianna Fontana as they jostled for position. Park lost her balance in the scramble and slid into the wall.

China's Li Jianrou won gold and Fontana won silver. Christie was penalized for her part in the pileup.

Park's teammates, Shim Suk-hee and Kim A-lang, were knocked out in the quarterfinals.

Before Park, Chun Lee-kyung was the only South Korean to win a medal in the women's 500 meters. Chun won bronze at the 1998 Nagano Games.
