Sports Ministry to Audit Korea Skating Union after Olympics

The Korea Skating Union will face an across-the-board audit by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism after the Sochi Winter Olympics.

Second Vice Minister Kim Jong said the ministry will review wide-ranging issues on the union's alleged corruption, factionalism and selection of national athletes and leaders.

This scrutiny was prompted by Korean-born short-track skater Ahn Hyun-soo who became a Russian citizen and won gold over the weekend in the men's 1000 meters in Sochi.

In 2011, Ahn, now known as Viktor Ahn, gave up his Korean citizenship after a falling-out with the Korea Skating Union.
