Foreign Media Question Judging of Women's Olympic Figure Skating

Foreign media have raised questions about the judging during Thursday night’s women’s ice skating finals at the Sochi Winter Olympics.

AFP said South Korea’s Kim Yu-na, who won silver, was dethroned by Russia's Adelina Sotnikova who won a controversial title despite an error in one of her combination jumps.

U.S. daily the Chicago Tribune said Sotnikova is Russia’s first women’s Olympic singles champion due to a judges’ decision that “may go down as among the most questionable in figure skating’s checkered history.”

French daily, L'Équipe, said judging scandals could discredit the sport.
