Two Elderly S. Koreans Leave Reunions Early Due to Health

Two elderly South Koreans who took part in family reunions at North Korea's Mount Geumgang resort have returned home a day early because of health problems.

Ninety-one year old Kim Sum-kyung and 84 year-old Hong Shin-ja were driven back across the border early Friday afternoon in an ambulance. That morning, they met briefly with their North Korean relatives in an ambulance.

The Unification Ministry said their early return was arranged after consulting with their families and doctors.

They had to be carried to the reunion site on Thursday in the ambulance as their conditions got worse.

Meanwhile, an employee of South Korea's Expressway Corporation was injured when he fell from a two meter high truck on Friday morning while snow was being plowed near a hotel at the Mount Geumgang resort.

He was returned to South Korea in an ambulance and is being treated at a hospital.
