KSU Asks Global Figure Skating Body to Confirm Fairness of Single's Results

The Korea Skating Union has requested the International Skating Union (ISU) to confirm whether the ladies’ singles competition at the Sochi Winter Olympics was judged in line with proper rules and procedures.

The South Korean delegation at Sochi said Saturday that the Korea Skating Union courteously asked ISU President Ottavio Cinquanta to make such a confirmation. The delegation said the ISU chief had responded that he would look into the matter.

Controversy arose over the final results of the single's final after Russia's Adelina Sotnikova won the gold medal despite an error in one of her combination jumps. South Korea’s Kim Yu-na ended up with a silver medal despite not making any mistakes in her program.

South Korean experts as well as foreign media have denounced the figure skating results, saying the scores were not fair.
