N. Korea Calls for Improved Inter-Korean Relations

North Korea has called for efforts to improve cross-border relations following the recent inter-Korean family reunions.

The Rodong Sinmun, the gazette of North Korea's ruling Workers' Party, said on Tuesday the two Koreas should not deny the national demand to pursue dialogue, reconciliation and cooperation in the wake of the reunions.

The paper said all Koreans hope the latest reunions will spark efforts to improve inter-Korean relations, stressing it is important to maintain the positive momentum to create an atmosphere of reconciliation.

In response to South Korean President Park Geun-hye’s recent call for a fundamental solution to the family reunion issue, the North said if Seoul faithfully implements the July 4 Joint Statement, all problems, including the family reunion issue, can be resolved.
