Cartoons about women forced into sex slavery by Japan's military during World War Two will be displayed in Seoul following a successful run at an international comic book festival in France.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family said Wednesday that they will host the special event on victims of Japan's wartime sex slavery or so-called comfort women. The exhibition will be held from Saturday at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History.
The exhibit will display 22 cartoons that were shown at the 2014 Angouleme International Comics Festival in France earlier this year.
The comfort women's voice recordings, drawings and photos, as well as videos produced based on the victims’ testimonies, will also be on display.
South Korean government officials and two elderly Korean women forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese will attend the opening of the event on Saturday.
The exhibition will run through April 13.
