The Republic of Korea Naval Academy is holding a special exhibition on the Dokdo islets at its Ulleung Island campus museum through April 18th.
The exhibit began Wednesday and is jointly hosted by the Dokdo Museum in Ulleung County, North Gyeongsang Province.
On display are around 50 pieces of old Dokdo-related documents and maps, photos and pictures owned by the two museums.
The exhibition has five sub-sections including "Dokdo records found in Korean history" and "how Dokdo is perceived in Japan."
There is even a map of Korea from the late Joseon Dynasty era that indicates Ulleung Island and Dokdo are Korea's territory. A Western map from the 18th century has the East Sea labeled as "Sea of Korea."
The exhibition is free during the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival from April first to the tenth when the Naval Academy is open to the public.
Later visits will be by reservation only. Reservations can be made at the Naval Academy's Web site www.navy.ac.kr or by phone (☎055-549-1121).
