South Korea and British financial authorities have agreed to expand cooperation to prepare for the unification of the Korean Peninsula.
Officials of leading South Korean and British financial firms reached the deal during the first South Korea-Britain financial cooperation forum held in London on Tuesday.
They also agreed to work together to help rebuild North Korea’s economy following unification and ways to jointly advance into financial markets of third countries.
Participants shared the view that if funds for the unification of the two Koreas are raised at international financial markets, the burdens of unification would be eased and South Koreans would pay less in taxes.
The forum was held as a follow-up measure to agreements President Park Geun-hye reached during her state visit to London last November.
