North Korea says South Korea’s recent ballistic missile test is a serious provocation.
The North’s state-run Korean Central News Agency quoted a spokesman of the National Academy of Defense Sciences as saying Monday that the North will not stand by idly and watch.
The spokesman said because South Korea tested the missile, which has a range of 500 kilometers and is capable of striking anywhere in the North, the United States, its puppet supporters and the U.N. Security Council will not be able to raise issue with Pyongyang when it launches ballistic missiles.
The spokesman also said the North will respond with nuclear weapons to nuclear provocations and with missiles to missile threats.
The spokesman said North Korea will continue to boost its missile capability and nuclear deterrence as long as the U.S. continues its nuclear threats and policies on invading the North.
The spokesman added North Korea has various missiles to address the U.S.’s schemes on invading the North but has never targeted the South Korean people or parts of the South.
The spokesman stressed the main targets of the North’s efforts on boosting its missile capability are the U.S. and its military bases.
