Martyrs Museum Opens in Jincheon

A martyrs museum opened on Friday in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province.

The "Father Thomas Choe Yang-eop Museum" commemorates the Korea's very first Catholic seminarian and the second Catholic priest.

The two-story building is designed to resemble the dormitory where Choi and Saint Andrew Kim Tae-gon, Korea's first Catholic priest, lived during their seminary years in Macao.

The museum has seven topical sections. Included on display is a catechism penned by Choi, a Korean copy of Catholic hymn lyrics and prayer books dating back to the late Joseon dynasty period.
