North Korea's top military body spewed vitriol at President Park Geun-hye's address made in March in Dresden, Germany, calling her aims for unification "irrelevant and nonsensical" while stating her views were based on the absorption of the North by South Korea.
Since the speech was delivered, Pyongyang has made numerous attacks on Park's comments through its state media, but Saturday's statement was the first from an official body of the North's power structure.
The North's National Defense Commission's spokesperson was cited by the North's Central News Agency as saying that Park had ulterior aims in stating that Germany's unification was a model for the Korean Peninsula.
The spokesperson also said the three proposals Park had stated in her vision for unification would do little to improve relations between the two Koreas. The statement added humanitarian issues, including aid and family reunions, were not the top priority when it comes to resolving conflict between North and South Korea.
The commission accused Park of slandering the North and fabricating facts in her speech when she pointed out the impoverished situation of North Koreans.
