A rose festival has been canceled in the wake of the sinking of the ferry Sewol.
Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province said it will cancel this year’s rose festival scheduled to be held from May 23 to June 1.
A Gokseong official explained the county office had initially considered scaling down the event, but decided to cancel it entirely in respect for the victims of the tragedy.
