N. Korea Urges Military to Faithfully Serve Kim Jong-un

North Korea urged its military to faithfully follow and defend its leader Kim Jong-un on Friday, which marks the 82nd founding anniversary of the North Korean People's Army.

Rodong Sinmun, the gazette of the North's ruling Workers' Party, called for the military to be at the forefront of safeguarding the young leader. It said imperialist forces are using different schemes to target the North's revolutionary leadership.

The newspaper also claimed North Korea has powerful nuclear deterrence to wipe out U.S. nuclear weapons in a sudden moment. It said the strongest weapon in the world is the grand solidarity of the North Korean military and its people.

Earlier Thursday, Pyongyang held a Workers' Party central committee meeting to mark the North’s military anniversary.

The North designated April 25,1932 as its military foundation day, as North Korean founder Kim Il-sung formed troops to fight against Japan on this date.

North Korea has observed April 25 as a national holiday since 1996.
