An annual lotus lantern festival celebrating Buddha's birthday will dedicate this year's event to the victims of the sunken ferry, the Sewol.
 
On Saturday, the organizing committee said the festival will take place over the weekend and focus on paying condolences to the victims of the tragic accident. 
 
The committee said it hopes the festival will serve as a venue for participants to share their pain and grief and pray for the victims.
 
The committee added this year’s festival will feature white lanterns to wish for the reincarnation of the ferry victims in paradise and red lanterns to represent the missing passengers in people's heart.
