South Korea Seeks Digital Entry System For Gaeseong

The South Korean government said it has made a request to North Korea to install and use a digital entry system at the joint industrial zone in Gaeseong.

An official from the Ministry of Unification said it sent a request for working talks on the system to the North on April 22.

A similar system was installed at the inter-Korea Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) checkpoint into the complex south of the border in January earlier this year as a trial run.

The digital entry system automatically recognizes personnel and vehicles entering and exiting Gaeseong through pre-distributed cards that are held up to digital card readers.(2014.04.27.12:37:49)
