Prime Minister Goh Kun said Thursday the government will form its own assistance team to help the family members of victims of last week's tragic subway fire in Daegu. Meeting the bereaved kin of the victims and the missing just hours after he took office, Goh said a vice minister or similar level official will head the team to heed to their needs and demands until all matters are wrapped up. Hundreds of people have been killed or are still unaccounted for from the subway inferno Feb. 18, set off by a man whose motives are still unclear. The death toll as of Thursday stood at 196, and investigators say it is feared to exceed 200. The prime minister said we will comply with what the family members demand and try to earn their trust.
