A series of cultural events on Wednesday have been canceled in respect for the victims of the ferry sinking.
 
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said some 60 events planned as part of the government-designated culture day were canceled across the nation.
 
Other aspects of cultural day still took place despite the cancellation of events, such as free or discounted admission at most participating facilities.
 
Since January this year, the government has designated the last Wednesday of each month as culture day.
