Unification Ministry Aims to Create Television Channel for Unification

South Korea's Ministry of Unification is aiming to create a television channel that broadcasts programs on unification.

A ministry official said Sunday the research for the creation of the channel had been outsourced to the Korean Association for Broadcasting and Telecommunication Studies.

The research will focus on the programming and management techniques of currently existing public channels including Military Broadcasting TV and National Assembly Television. The association will determine whether it is possible to create a similar channel for unification issues, the official said.

The unification ministry had told lawmakers at the National Assembly earlier this year that the government was planning to develop unification broadcasting measures in order to increase public awareness about unification.
