RFA: European Biz Delegation to Visit N. Korea in Sept.

Radio Free Asia says a European business delegation plans to visit North Korea in September to explore investment opportunities in the communist regime.

The U.S. based news agency on Tuesday reported the delegation is led by Paul Tjia, director of GPI Consultancy, a consulting firm in the Netherlands focused on North Korea and other developing countries.

The report said the group is set to travel to the North from September 23 to the 28. It will tour industrial sites in various fields of renewable energy, apparel and minerals.

The delegation is also scheduled to attend a trade fair in Pyongyang and meet with North Korea’s chamber of commerce officials.

The group will also hold a seminar in Beijing before arriving to the North to talk about the benefits, challenges and practical steps of doing business in North Korea.

Paul Tjia said he is in the process of receiving applications from European businessmen and the size of the delegation is not yet determined.
