North Korea has repeatedly dismissed the results of the joint South Korea-U.S. probe confirming the three drones found near the inter-Korean border were sent from the North.
The North’s army mission at the truce village of Panmunjeom issued a statement on Monday after the UN Command delivered a warning to the North on Friday.
The UN Command spoke through a loudspeaker last week at the Military Demarcation Line and said the North had violated the Korean War Armistice Agreement.
In response, North Korea’s statement claimed the U.S. was acting as a “loudspeaker” for South Korea as it had done after the sinking of the Cheonan naval ship in 2010. It claimed the U.S. is shielding the South's position on the drones and the incident is a plot against the North schemed by South Korean and U.S. authorities.
The statement came a day after the North’s National Defense Commission said the results from the South Korea-U.S. drone investigation were fabricated. It demanded a joint investigation between the two Koreas be launched.
In response, the South’s defense ministry said the North’s proposal is a foolish act seeking to conceal the truth.
