Actress Jeon to be in Main Competition Jury at Cannes Film Festival

South Korean actress Jeon Do-yeon will be part of the jury for the main competition section at the 67th annual Cannes Film Festival.

She is the first South Korean actor to be included in the film festival’s main competition jury, which will be headed by New Zealand film director Jane Campion this year.

Jeon won the best actress award at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival for her leading role in the movie “Secret Sunshine.”

No South Korean movies were invited to be screened in the competition section of this year’s film festival. However, July Jung’s “Dohee-ya” will be screened in the Un Certain Regard section and Kim Seong-hun’s “A Hard Day” in the Directors' Fortnight section.

The 67th annual Cannes Film Festival opened on Wednesday with the film “Grace of Monaco” directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman.
