Seoul Still Willing to Provide Humanitarian Aid to North

South Korea says it will continue humanitarian aid to North Korea, following the North's message that it will refuse aid from South Korean civic groups for the time being.

In a Wednesday briefing, Seoul's Unification Ministry spokeswoman Park Soo-jin said that Pyongyang told Seoul that it would reject aid provisions to the North as they were being politically abused.

Park affirmed Seoul's position that the government will continue humanitarian aid for vulnerable North Koreans regardless of political or military circumstances.

She said Seoul has not stopped providing such aid to North Korea even while the North continues with its nuclear development, provocative threats and slander against the South.

Park added that changing the list of aid items is not under consideration at the moment.
