The 24th World Koreans Festival, a get-together of first to third-generation overseas Koreans, will be held for a week from October 15 in Seoul and Daegu.

Hosted by the Korea Council for Sport for All, the event is held to create harmony among people of Korean descent and to offer an opportunity for overseas Koreans to visit their ancestral homeland.

The council has been holding the festival since 1988 to commemorate the Seoul Olympics. So far, 15-thousand overseas Koreans from 100 countries have taken part in the event. Almost 300 overseas Koreans are expected to participate this year, including descendants of independence fighters. The program will include cultural experiences, sports and visits to tourist attractions.

Overseas Koreans who want to take part in the festival may apply online at www.wkf.or.kr and send a copy of their passports by e-mail or fax.
