North Korea Announces its Participation in Incheon Asian Games

North Korea has officially announced that it will be sending a delegation of athletes to the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea slated to begin in mid-September.

The North's state-run Korea Central News Agency said the North Korea Olympic Committee will be sending a full-fledged sports delegation as a member of the Asia Olympic society.

The agency said that the announcement has been officially conveyed to the Olympic Council of Asia and it will soon file the application according to the rules set forth by the organizing committee.

Previously in January, the North had announced its men's and women's football teams would be participating, but now it has been confirmed that the North plans to send a complete delegation.

Incheon city mayor Song Young-gil welcomed North Korea's decision to fully participate in the games.
