Center to Help Immigrants Get Training in Korean Cuisine

A support center for multicultural families in Seoul's Yeongdeungpo district says it's running a Korean language class for foreigners preparing for the certification exam on Korean cuisine.

The center will teach Korean necessary for examinees to take the written portion of the test. After they pass the written exam, the center will team up with the Korea Cooking Professional School to provide students with financial aid to train for the cooking part of the exam at the school.

The Korean language class for the written exam will be a two hour session at 10 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from June 9 to August 4. Applicants can apply until June 5.

A course to prepare for the cooking exam will be offered later. Training at the Korea Cooking Professional School costs 400-thousand won but married immigrants who submit a certain application at the employment support center can be trained free of cost.

For inquiries, call the Yeongdeungpo-gu multicultural family support center (☎ 02-846-5432).
