VOA: IFRC to Hold Meeting on N. Korea Aid Later This Month

The Voice of America says the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) will hold a meeting on boosting cooperation with North Korea’s Red Cross.

The report said Wednesday that the annual meeting will be held in Britain for two days from June 25.

IFRC officials from nine countries, which include Sweden, Australia, Britain, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Iran and Norway, will take part in the meeting. Participants will discuss achievements, problems and future tasks in providing assistance to the North.

The IFRC has set aside five-point-six million dollars this year for North Korea-related projects and is carrying out projects in the areas of health, drinking water and disaster management.

Currently, a total of 13 countries, including Australia, Britain, Canada and France, are providing aid to the North through the Red Cross.
