2014 FIFA World Cup Kicks Off in Brazil

The 2014 FIFA World Cup has opened in Brazil, with the tournament's official slogan "All in one rhythm."

The 20th World Cup kicked off in São Paulo with the opening match between host nation Brazil and Croatia at five a.m. Friday, Korea time.

The 32 participating countries will vie for the coveted FIFA trophy, playing a total of 64 games through July 14.

Team Korea has qualified for eight consecutive World Cups, and was drawn into Group H for this year's tournament.

The national team will play its first match on June 18 in Cuiaba against Russia, followed by matches with Algeria on June 23 and Belgium on June 27.
