Seoul City Gov’t to Encourage Urban Homestays for Foreign Tourists

The Seoul city government will encourage more citizens to accommodate foreign tourists in their houses.

In a bid to boost urban homestays, the metropolitan government plans to increase the number of houses available for foreign tourists from the current 470 to 700.

Those who live in houses measuring 230 square meters or smaller can rent out their empty rooms to foreign tourists.

Owners of traditional Korean houses called “hanok” can accommodate foreign tourists after renovating their properties as hospitality facilities to give their guests a glimpse into traditional Korean culture.
