Hanbok Promotion Center to Open on Tuesday

The government will open a center tasked with promoting hanbok, the Korean traditional clothing. The opening ceremony will be held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday in Seoul.

The hanbok promotion center will showcase the traditional clothing as a representative cultural symbol of the nation.

As part of the promotion plan, the center says it will provide financial support to civilian organizations working to promote hanbok, and host a hanbok festival as well as sponsoring the development of new hanbok designs.

The center will also carry out a wide range of projects to help the hanbok industry become more competitive and improve business sustainability.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it will make systematic efforts to support the center and promote the traditional clothing.

The hanbok promotion center will be launched as an affiliate of the Korea Craft and Design Foundation.
