The Unification Ministry says it's willing to discuss forming an inter-Korean team for the Incheon Asian Games.
A ministry official says if the organizing committee for the Incheon Asian Games formally asks for government cooperation to launch a team made up of the two Koreas, it will hold discussions according to international practices.
The official also said the issue of forming a joint Korean team should be discussed between the Korean Olympic Committee (KOC) and its North Korean counterpart.
This marks a shift from the previous stance the government held as it said in April that an inter-Korean team would be inappropriate under current circumstances.
The official added that the South is also open to discussing the possibility of teams from both Koreas entering the opening ceremony together, but added that the government has yet been notified with anything new from the organizers regarding these matters.
The 2014 Incheon Asian Games will open in September.
