S. Korea-Uzbekistan Summit Focuses on Economic Collaboration

President Park Geun-hye held a summit with Uzbek President Islam Karimov in Tashkent on Tuesday to find ways to deepen bilateral ties.
 
The two leaders discussed bilateral economic projects under way in the Central Asian country. 

President Park asked for Uzbekistan's support in existing economic projects, including the development of the Surgil gas field and the construction of a thermal power plant in Talimarjan. She also asked for cooperation for Korean firms to win new projects including a solar power plant deal. 
 
The two leaders also discussed boosting cooperation in construction, infrastructure and textile industries.
 
In a meeting with Korean residents in Uzbekistan on Monday, Park vowed to expand cooperative ties with Central Asian nations to open a new future for Eurasian cooperation.
