Park: S. Korea-Uzbekistan Economic Coop. Should be Upgraded

President Park Geun-hye attended a forum on Tuesday with South Korean and Uzbek businesspeople in Tashkent.

At the meeting on the second day of her state visit to the Central Asian country, the president said the two nations have made remarkable leaps in exchanges and cooperation 20 years after the establishment of diplomatic ties.

She then stressed that now is the time for the two nations to upgrade their economic cooperation.

Park proposed that South Korea and Uzbekistan usher in a peaceful and prosperous era for Eurasia by boosting cooperation for her “Eurasia Initiative,” which aims to bind European and Asian countries closely together to create an economic bloc.

She said with her initiative, Uzbekistan will revive the glory of the Silk Road.

After the forum, Park visited the Independence Monument and prayed for those who sacrificed their lives for Uzbekistan’s independence.
