Culture Day Events to Resume from June 25

A series of cultural events canceled in the wake of the Sewol ferry disaster will resume starting from June 25.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Monday that some 12-hundred cultural events and activities will take place on Wednesday across the nation.

To mark the month of remembrance, special performances to honor martyrs and patriots will be staged at various venues in Seoul.

Nine professional football teams will visit schools in their neighborhoods to give football classes and meet with student fans.

Flash mob street concerts are also planned for downtown Seoul in the evening for workers heading home after a long day of work.

Since January this year, the government has designated the last Wednesday of each month as a culture day to promote citizens’ access to various cultural events.
