Income Gap Between Two Koreas Widens

The income gap between the two Koreas continues to widen.

According to the Bank of Korea’s analysis of North Korea’s economic growth, the North’s nominal gross national income (GNI) per capita recorded one-point-379 million won last year, which is one 21st of South Korea’s.

In 2012, the North’s GNI per capita was one 20th of South Korea’s.

However, North Korea’s trade volume posted one 147th of South Korea’s last year, with the inter-Korean gap decreasing from one 157th in 2012.
