Elderly Former Comfort Women to Attend Papal Mass

A group of Korean victims of Japan’s wartime sex slavery will attend a mass officiated by Pope Francis during his visit to South Korea.

The country’s Catholic Church said on Monday that it invited the former comfort women once the papal visit was confirmed and it will notify the pope of their attendance.

The Catholic Church said that the pope is expected to give a message to the victims during the mass, but it has not been decided whether he will arrange a meeting with them.

The mass will be held at Myeongdong Cathedral in central Seoul on August 18, the last day of his visit.
