Korea Football Association Returns Hong Myung-bo’s Resignation

Written: 2014-07-03 13:13:02Updated: 2014-07-04 17:19:34

The South Korean national football team’s manager Hong Myung-bo will retain his position.

In a news conference on Thursday, Vice Chairman of the Korea Football Association Huh Jung-moo announced his organization’s decision to keep Hong.

He said they will continue to trust and support Hong as his resignation would not be the best solution to address South Korea’s disappointing performance in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Huh added that Hong had offered to step down as the national team’s manager after South Korea lost to Belgium in the final group match. The association, however, persuaded him to stay and asked the manager to lead the team again in next year’s Asian Cup in Australia, using the World Cup as a learning experience.
