The opening ceremony for the eighth World Taekwondo Culture Expo was held on Saturday at the T1 stadium located in Muju, North Jeolla Province.
 
Teams from 26 countries around the world kicked off the opening ceremony, which was followed by a taekwondo demonstration and celebratory performances.
 
Muju County Governor Hwang Jeong-soo expressed his hope that taekwondo would develop further and receive more support from the public through the expo. He added the event was a place for people to learn and experience the sport.
 
Athletes will participate in seminars on form, competition, physical exercise, self-protection skills and demonstrations until July 6.
 
They will also take part in competitions after visiting key tourist areas in North Jeolla from July 7 until the closing ceremony on July 8.
